The Honda ADV 160 is the 2022 adventure-styled scooter, on sale new at THB 101,900 with a 157 cc eSP+ engine. It is a bike you can use for everything: twist-and-go through traffic, enough ground clearance for broken surfaces and standing water, and a 45.5 km/L rating that keeps the running costs mild. It is light enough for most riders to paddle around a car park, the seat is low enough to reach the ground comfortably, and the front disc runs ABS.
The Honda ADV 160 is inexpensive to run, because its running costs are the ordinary scooter items: fuel, engine oil, a drive belt and rollers at service intervals, tyres and brake pads. A liquid-cooled engine adds coolant checks to the list but helps the engine hold its condition in slow traffic. Riding hard, carrying a pillion daily and doing many short cold trips will bring all of those intervals forward.
The Honda ADV 160 is the tall, rugged choice against the Yamaha NMAX, Honda PCX160 and Yamaha Aerox, trading a little road polish for 165 mm of ground clearance and a 110/80-14 front tyre. If your route includes broken surfaces, unsealed sections or roads that flood, that extra height is the reason to choose it. If you only ride smooth city roads, a lower scooter will feel easier at a standstill.
The Honda ADV 160 rides with a light, tall feel that comes from a 133 kg weight, a telescopic front fork and a 1,324 mm wheelbase. Around town it changes direction quickly and is easy to filter with, while the taller suspension and 165 mm of clearance take the sting out of ruts and potholes. On fast open roads it feels less planted than a heavier machine, and crosswinds are more noticeable because of the upright bodywork.
The Honda ADV 160 has a 780 mm seat height, which lets most adult riders get the balls of both feet down and many riders flat-foot it. The upright riding position suits longer rides better than a crouched sports scooter does, and the flat floor gives you room to move your feet. Taller riders may find the legroom snug on a long journey, so sit on one before you commit.
